In a move to promote sustainable marine industries, the ICAR – Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR - CIFT) signed an agreement with Paasea Sustainable Solutions Pvt. Ltd., on 15^th May 2026.

Under the agreement, ICAR-CIFT will provide technical guidance and know-how for the development of value-added, health-oriented seaweed-based products such as functional beverages, beverage powder, and nutri-bars. It also includes the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the establishment of a processing unit for seaweed-based products.

Paasea Sustainable Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu is dedicated to developing innovative seaweed-based products with a focus on sustainability and aims to generate livelihood opportunities for coastal communities, particularly by empowering women through marine-based entrepreneurial ventures.

The consultancy team from ICAR-CIFT comprises Dr. Remya, Senior Scientist; Dr. C.O. Mohan, Principal Scientist; and Dr. Bindu J., Head of the Fish Processing Division. The agreement was exchanged in the presence of Dr. Remesan M.P., Director-in-charge, and Mr. Logesh S.G., Founder of Paasea Sustainable Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

This initiative reflects ICAR-CIFT’s commitment to promoting sustainable products and creating livelihood opportunities for coastal groups.
