ICAR-CIFT, Cochin organized an online international training programme on “QUALITY ASSURANCE OF FISH AND FISHERY PRODUCTS” from 19th September to 1st October 2022 under the capacity building initiatives of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. This e-ITEC training programme was attended by 16 participants from 6 different ITEC partner countries, namely Maldives, Myanmar, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Tanzania, and Kenya. Wide range of topics encompassing quality issues of fish and fish products, handling, value addition, food safety hazards, quality assurance approaches, regulatory requirements in export trade and testing methods were dealt with during the 2-week long programmes. The training program was concluded with the country presentation by the representative of participant countries on seafood regulatory systems in their respective countries, followed by the valedictory session on 01 October 2022, which was chaired by Dr Leela Edwin, Director, ICAR-CIFT.
