The ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), Kochi signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Kochi on 24^th April 2025,  for Collaborative Research on Transforming debris from abandoned FRP fishing boats and fishing gears into innovative upcycled products.

The MoA was formally signed at the CIPET Institute of Petrochemicals Technology (IPT), Kochi, marking a significant step toward sustainable marine waste management and circular economy initiatives. The collaboration seeks to combine ICAR-CIFT’s expertise in fisheries technology with CIPET’s capabilities in polymer engineering and material science to develop value-added solutions from marine plastic waste.

The scientific team from ICAR-CIFT, Dr. Manju Lekshmi N. and Dr. Sandhya K.M., will lead this collaborative research project.
