ITEC Programme in Fish Processing - 2023

 

An ITEC training programme on ‘Technological Interventions in Processing, Value addition and Packaging of Aquatic Resources’ commenced today at the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Kochi. The program is for three weeks  from 20th November - 08th December.  The program is being  attended by 21 participants from 13 different countries viz. Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Nepal, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda and, Zimbabwe. The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme,  (ITEC ) is the leading capacity building platform of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.  Instituted in 1964, ITEC is one of the oldest institutionalized arrangements for international capacity building having trained more than two lakh officials from over 160 countries in both the civilian and in the defence sector. The programmes are based on the competence of India  as a provider of technical know-how and expertise, as well as training opportunities, besides other services and is fully funded by the government of India.  2023.

 

 

 

Shri Anil Kumar P   Jt.  Director  (Marketing)  , MPEDA was the Chief Guest at the inaugural function . He highlighted the relevance of value addition and its significance in employment generation and urged for the collaboration of the institutions for the overall development of the fisheries sector. Presiding over the inaugural session, Dr. George Ninan, Director, ICAR-CIFT termed Indian Technical Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programmes to be a shining example of collective leadership across the continents to meet common challenges and finding sustainable solutions for the sector. Dr. Bindu J, Head, Fish Processing Division and ITEC Course Director welcomed the gathering. Dr. Nikita Gopal, Head, EIS division briefed about the ITEC Programme. Dr. Parvathy U, Senior Scientist, and programme co-ordinator updated on the training programme. The programme concluded by vote of thanks by Dr. Sathish Kumar, Scientist and ITEC Co-ordinator.
