Chitosan is a biopolymer of interest due to its wide range of applications in pharma, food and allied industries. ICAR-CIFT is pioneer in developing and disseminating the industrial scale chitosan technology in the country. Based on the growing need of functional specific chitosan, ICAR-CIFT has developed process techniques and also commercialized for different viscosity grade chitosan. The institute can support the production of chitosan in different combinations of degree of deacetylation (70-98%) and viscosity (5-4000 cP) with a careful selection of raw material and process conditions.
