ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Kochi conducted the inplant training for the students from the 24th August, 2022 to 02nd October 2022. The inaugural session was held on 24th August was presided over by Dr. Leela Edwin, Director, ICAR-CIFT. Dr. Bindu J., Course Director & HoD, FP Division welcomed the participants and Dr. A. K. Mohanty, Course Director & Head, EIS Division briefed about the scheduled programme.
The 42 days-long training programme was attended by 21 Final Year B.F.Sc students of College of Fisheries, Assam. During the period, various topics related to fish harvest and post-harvest technologies were covered by 55 resource persons. There were 56 theory classes and 16 practical sessions conducted in different divisions of ICAR-CIFT. In addition, they were facilitated with a visit to ICAR-CIFT research vessel, fish landing centre and industry visits to Baby Marine International , Thoppumpady and India Sea Foods Private Limited, Kannamaly. Institute visits were arranged to ICAR-CMFRI, Agri-business Incubation facility of College of Agriculture (Kerala Agricultural University), Vellanikkara, NIFPHATT, CIFNET, MPEDA, EIA located at Kochi and ADAK Fish Farm at Poyya, Thrissur and Matsyafed Aqua farm at Narakkal Pre-training and post-training evaluations on harvest and post-harvest technologies in fisheries were conducted for participants to assess the effectiveness of the training programme.
The valedictory function was conducted on 29th September, 2022. Dr. Leela Edwin, Director, presided over the function. Dr. Bindu J, HoD, FP Division welcomed the gathering and Dr. A. K. Mohanty, HoD, EIS Division gave overall remarks about the training programme. Dr. S. Remya, Senior Scientist, presented a brief report on the activities carried out during the programme. Dr. Leela Edwin, Director distributed the certificates and the participants gave their feedback about the programme. Dr. Parvathy U., Scientist proposed the vote of thanks.
